RFID in the wine industry anti-counterfeiting tracking
June 05, 2019

Food safety engineering has always been the focus of the public's attention. Because of the temptation of high-profit interests in the wine industry, many lawbreakers take risks to make and sell fakes, and news about fake wine harming people is also reported. The end of the wine supply chain is consumers. How to do a good job of customer management in supply chain management, to be responsible for customers and the quality of their own products, is for wine companies to do a good job in anti-counterfeiting management of wine products.

But for now, the anti-counterfeiting of wine products is in an embarrassing situation. On the one hand, companies have invested a lot of money in the research of anti-counterfeiting technologies. On the other hand, these technologies are always quickly copied by counterfeiters. The phenomenon of imitation is abhorrent, but it seems a little helpless. my country’s wine industry urgently needs a high-tech, difficult to copy, and truly effective anti-counterfeiting technology.

Advantages of using RFID in wine anti-counterfeiting management

At present, the anti-counterfeiting methods used by most domestic wine companies have three common drawbacks:

1. Most anti-counterfeiting labels have low technical content and are easy to copy;

2. The judgment process of anti-counterfeiting marks is complicated and not easy for consumers to accept;

3. The overall management loopholes prevent these anti-counterfeiting methods from functioning smoothly.

In contrast, RFID anti-counterfeiting labels have advantages that are more suitable for industry needs:

1. Corresponding to a single product, the RFID tag has a unique ID code, which cannot be copied;

2. RFID tags are not paper products, are not easy to wear, and there is no pollution or tearing, and they are also waterproof and anti-magnetic;

3. There are two types of RFID tags: read-only and read-write, with large storage capacity;

4. The physical interface of the electronic tag reader is not directly open to the final consumer of the product, which can effectively ensure the accuracy of the information contained in the tag;

5. RFID tags can read and write a large number of target products at once, efficient and fully automatic data processing.

In China’s liquor industry, Wuliangye, Moutai, etc., as representatives of domestic high-end brands, have always been key targets for counterfeiters. Therefore, these companies have strong brand awareness and invest far more human and financial resources than their counterparts for brand protection Aspects of research. At the beginning of 2009, Wuliangye Group launched the RFID technology anti-counterfeiting project, which was successfully completed in November of the same year and delivered. The entire project invested 200 million yuan to build a complete RFID overall solution platform. At the beginning of the project, Wuliangye Group initially realized the anti-counterfeiting application of high-end brand RFID technology with an annual consumption of more than 20 million RFID anti-counterfeiting labels. At the same time, it simultaneously launched a multi-functional RFID query identifier and specialty store RFID query equipment and handheld There are 800 sets of inquiry equipment and more than 2000 sets respectively. The huge capital investment indicates that Wuliangye Group is confident that RFID tags can meet the anti-counterfeiting management of Wuliangye's high-end products.

Some domestic wine manufacturers have taken the lead in the industry in terms of electronic label anti-counterfeiting management. For example, in April 2009, Chateau Changyu became the first domestic liquor company to apply RFID technology on a large scale in the production field in order to prevent the fleeing of goods and eliminate counterfeit and shoddy products. But generally speaking, the anti-counterfeiting management of domestic wine companies is still relatively weak. Some high-end wine brands are absolutely necessary and capable of adopting foreign advanced RFID technology to carry out anti-counterfeiting and tracking management of products. In the future development, we can learn from the foreign wine industry. Successful practices are applied in combination with domestic actual conditions.
