3. Semi-Passive RFID Tags:
Semi-passive RFID tags, also known as battery-assisted passive (BAP) tags, combine features of both active and passive tags. They have an onboard battery that powers certain functionalities like internal data processing or sensor capabilities, but they still rely on the reader to provide energy for communication. Semi-passive tags offer advantages such as extended read range and improved reliability, while still maintaining a longer battery life compared to fully active tags. These tags find applications in areas like temperature monitoring, healthcare, and high-value asset tracking.

Comparison and Applications:
- Active tags offer longer read ranges and real-time tracking capabilities, making them suitable for applications requiring continuous monitoring, such as cargo tracking, vehicle identification, and people tracking.

- Passive tags are cost-effective, smaller, and have a longer lifespan, making them ideal for item-level tracking in retail, supply chain management, and asset identification.

- Semi-passive tags combine the benefits of active and passive tags, providing extended read ranges and enhanced functionality, making them suitable for applications involving sensor-based tracking, temperature monitoring, and durability testing.
