Guangzhou Baiyun Airport completed the energy-saving transformation of T1 apron high-pole lights, and connected the lights to the Internet of Things platform

After a period of smooth trial operation, the energy-saving transformation of high-pole lights on the apron of Baiyun Airport T1 has successfully completed the acceptance. This renovation is the first large-scale application of 2300K low color temperature LED apron high-pole lamps in domestic airports, and for the first time the lamp warranty period has been increased to 10 years, and the lamp power saving rate has reached 59%, effectively helping Baiyun Airport to create a "green airport" .


There are currently 77 base-high pole lights in the apron area of the T1 terminal of Baiyun Airport. Before the renovation, it included 550 1000-watt high-pressure sodium lamps and 148 400-watt high-pressure sodium lamps, with a total power of 609.2 kilowatts. The transformed high pole lamp uses LED lamps with lower energy consumption, better light efficiency, longer life and lower maintenance costs. The total power is reduced to 258 kilowatts, and the power saving rate is expected to reach 59%. It is estimated that about 1.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity will be saved throughout the year, which can reduce about 1,300 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which is equivalent to the annual carbon dioxide absorption of about 73,000 trees. The electricity cost is about 1.514 million yuan, and the maintenance cost is more than 100,000 yuan.


18 days to complete


700 lamps retrofitted and replaced


In the construction transformation stage, in order to ensure the construction period and quality, Baiyun Airport organized a detailed construction transformation plan, and simulated light distribution for all the transformation areas before construction. The light distribution plan is specific to the installation position and installation angle of each lamp, which is convenient for the scene. Efficient construction. The lamp renovation started on December 7, 2020 and ended on December 24. Nearly 700 lamps were installed at a height of nearly 30 meters. Baiyun Airport completed all the renovation and replacement in only 18 days, which was half the planned construction period. In the trial operation after the transformation, the on-site lighting effect was significantly improved, and the feedback from the on-site support personnel and the crew was good. The average illuminance of the aircraft was increased from the original 25 lux to more than 50 lux, and the uniformity was increased from 0.25 to 0.4.


The first large-scale use in domestic airports


Low color temperature LED high pole light fixture


It is reported that the relevant technical standards for civil airport apron flood lighting require that the color temperature of LED light sources be less than 4000K. At present, domestic airports generally use LED lamps with a color temperature of about 3000K. The color temperature of the lamps in the renovation of Baiyun Airport is as low as 2300K, which is the first large-scale use in domestic airports. At the end of 2017, Baiyun Airport started the preliminary test of LED transformation of high-pole lights on the apron. After two years of multi-round simulation tests of different manufacturers, different color temperatures, different illuminances, and different lamp combinations, the feasibility of replacing high-pressure sodium lamps with LED lamps was finally confirmed. The low color temperature LED lamps have a softer visual effect and are less likely to make the crew and tower controllers feel glare stimulation. On the other hand, the high CRI LED lamps have a high ability to restore the color of objects visually, which also increases the accuracy and safety of discrimination.


Lamp warranty increased to ten years


Internet of Things single lamp dimming saves power by 25%


In order to ensure that the test data can be fully implemented in the later transformation, and to ensure the effect and quality of the transformation, Baiyun Airport has developed a scoring system based on technical parameter scores, supplemented by quality assurance requirements and energy-saving benefit scores. In the final bidding result, the power saving ratio was 28% lower than the bid price limit, and the 10-year warranty was achieved under the premise of five years. While saving costs, it created a precedent in the civil aviation industry for the 10-year warranty of lamps and lanterns. .


Baiyun Airport will also connect the airport flight information system to the high-pole light control system, install narrow-band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) communication equipment for each LED lamp of the high-pole light, and connect the lights to the narrow-band Internet of Things platform through a dedicated network. At that time, the apron high-pole lights can automatically adjust the brightness of each lamp in real time according to the flight operation status and natural brightness, realize single-lamp dimming under the control of the Internet of Things, and achieve the effect of time-sharing and intelligent management of the apron lighting. It can also save electricity by 25% on the basis of the current energy saving of 59%.
