Why choose RFID?

Fully implemented RFID solutions support identification and traceability of waste streams. Tags attached to waste containers allow operators to monitor sort quality, track the number of times a container has been collected, and track the weight of its contents. It also simplifies service billing and enables incentive-based invoicing.

Why choose SunRise RFID?

SunRise RFID has long been a global leader in developing secure contactless technology, with more than 1 billion RFID tags produced worldwide. For waste management, the company offers a range of transponders for a wide range of operations - residential and commercial bins, medical waste containers, hoppers, bottle banks and more - optimizing waste management for efficiency, economy and traceability. Together with the reader core, support services and years of experience in secure contactless implementations. Our innovative products comply with all relevant standards and are fully interoperable with other standardized components and systems. Our goal is to simplify the operator's task, increase operational transparency, and maximize the operator's return on investment.

Application Requirements Trash cans come in many shapes, materials and sizes, but regardless of size, metal or plastic, residential or commercial, they need to withstand harsh environments and rough handling.

Outdoors, they face extreme heat, cold, rain, ice and snow. Even in everyday use, they can be thrown, turned and dropped by people or machines. They can be exposed to harsh chemicals, internal or external, and in some applications, the rigors of aggressive cleaning. With all these challenges, they are often expected to persist for a decade or more. Obviously, an RF tag connected to such an outlet faces all the same conditions and must at the same time protect vulnerable microcircuits.

How to use tags?

In typical home or business RFID waste management, the tag's unique ID number is associated with the bin and the owner or address of the bin. During identification, lifting and registration, tags are read as bins are lifted and the information is time-coded and recorded.

In applications such as medical waste, the containers themselves are collected, transported to disposal points and returned to their place of origin. In such applications, read/write tags can actually collect and disseminate information.

The right product for every job

The choice of tags and readers can have a huge impact on the success of a waste management program. System integrators, waste bin manufacturers and lift manufacturers expect reliability. Every installed tab must work and continue to work. Unique customer identification is critical and user ID numbers cannot be duplicated. System components must be reliable, with warranties and support that users can rely on. Users and system integrators need a reliable source of affordable off-the-shelf products.

SunRise RFID has the right tag and reader board for virtually any waste-related application, all backed by our expertise, engineering capabilities, warranty and renowned customer service. Products designed for this task, providing unique identification of litter bins. Tags are manufactured for out-of-the-box reliability and long life. With years of experience and millions of transponders in use, HID's product line has become the quality assurance for secure contactless applications worldwide. When it comes to waste management, our screw-on bin labels are among the most widely used in the world. The chip is bonded to the antenna for reliable performance and durability. The device is then encapsulated in resin to provide maximum tensile strength and matching resistance to weather, shock and humidity. This label is designed to be installed as a step in the bin manufacturing process. For old dumpsters on site, plug tags can be easily installed. This is especially important for service providers who have made significant investments in existing litter boxes.

A trusted source for secure contactless technologys

SunRise RFID designed the bin tag specifically for waste management applications, but of course, no one tag meets all needs, so we offer an extensive portfolio of tag types to satisfy the wide variety of customer demands. Our epoxy tags come in 20 mm sizes for curbside bins and 30 mm sizes for bin producers looking to embed the tag during manufacturing. SunRise RFID also offers the On Metal Tag and Plug Tag along with tools for installation. Versions meet low frequency (125 KHz or 134.2 KHz), high frequency (13.56 MHz), and ultra-high frequency (869-915 MHz) ISO standards including: FDX-b BDE, EN 14803 and ISO 11785. No matter what the mix of residential, business, and specialized customers; the variety of bin types, sizes, and materials; or the frequencies you require, HID Global has the components you need.

To complete the solution, HID offers topquality reader boards that meet all established standards and have consistently raised the bar for performance. They can be incorporated into hand-held or vehicle-mounted devices, as well as connected to a variety of controller and host systems.

We are your proven solution - as your needs grow.

The need for waste management will continue to grow. "Green" initiatives will need to track recycling flows more closely. "Pay as you go" can be implemented to encourage waste reduction and increased recycling. Changes in waste handling technology may require the ability to track certain materials, not just at the time of pickup, but throughout the process.RFIDwastebintag application.jpg
